Throughout the year, Alhama de Murcia celebrates its local festivities by dressing its streets with light and color.Festivities begin on February 2nd with the festivity of Virgen de la Candelaria, and then the Carnival, filled with spontaneity as residents dress up and go out.
Two celebrations are considered to be of Regional Tourist Interest, taking place with the arrival of Spring, Easter, characterized by the flower arrangement of its thrones, with special mention of the Encuentros; and Los Mayos, where rag puppets, dressed and adorned with different fixtures are "planted" in the streets and gardens.
The festivities in honor of the Virgen del Rosario are held in early October, which include the Desfile de Carrozas (float parade) and the Concurso de Migas (a culinary competition of traditional food).
