The craft is one of the ways that people have to tell their story and show their creativity, rooted in its identity.

In the past, in Alhama de Murcia there were outstanding esparto (straw) artisans, the esparteñeros, who made the soles of esparto and put together the esparteñas (shoes made of esparto). Worth mentioning too are the ceramics, embroidery (for Easter, folk groups; there is a cultural association dedicated to different techniques of embroidery and sewing), forging, musical instruments (violins, cellos), rustic furniture, wood carvings (sculptures and restoration), and many more.

To promote the city, Alhama de Murcia holds two annual craft markets in the Regional Tourist Interest festivity in "Los Mayos" and in the October Fair, which market natural products, handicrafts and antiques.
