This pork festival is held on February, after the Candelaria festivity.
Annual event that focuses on the theme of the “matanza”, the day where the family pig was killed and the work undertaken to convert it into products which could be stored and eaten over a period of months. The process traditionally involved several people so it became an annual celebration, with food and drink in the centre of the occasion.
This "fiesta", organised by the Town Hall and held during Saturday and mid Sunday, is a chance to learn more about how the traditional meat products of the region are made, as well as sample them. For this celebration, a marquee is installed in the fairground..
Attendees can visit the exhibitions of tools used in the matanza, watch the preparation of the final products, sample the traditional products produced in the process and enjoy the music of local folk music groups that enliven the event.
The Fiesta de la Matanza is traditionnaly held in February, after the Candelaria local festivity day. In 2026 it will be held on 7th and 8th of February.
