EXHIBITION: THE HEROES OF THE AFRICAN WAR. THE MANCO DE TIKÚN (ONE-ARMED MAN FROM TIKÚN)

Monday to Friday from 9am to 1.30pm and from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Until 21 November. Free admission. Exhibition of documents and decorations.

The African wars took place over a long period of time, from 1860 to 1927. Many Spanish soldiers suffered the effects of a long and hostile war with the Rifians, in which many of them died defending their territory. This year, on the centenary of the landing at Alhucemas in September 1925 and the arrival of many heroes in their respective towns, including El Manco de Tikún in Alhama, the Town Council of Alhama de Murcia wishes to remember and recognise the suffering of these heroes and their families, between pain and glory, between oblivion and memory.
