13th FIESTA DE LA MATANZA
Various activities such as the making and tasting of fresh pot, a sausage-making workshop for children, performances. Free admission.8.00 am. Work begins to prepare a giant “olla fresca” (a pork stew made with
rice, beans and pulses)
10.00 am. Workshop for children to make salchichas
(pork sausages). Two groups starting at 10 am and 11.30 am. Prior registration
required until February 8th in the Concejalía de Festejos (Casa de Cultura).
10.00 am. Guided
visit in Spanish to Las Paleras Archaeological Site. Previous booking required
at the tourist office (+34 968 633 512) or online. Price: €3 for adults and €2
for children from 3 to 12 years old. Meeting point: Los Baños Archaeological
Museum.
10.30 am. Display of ham cuttings by the
professional David García Romera, with all the ham cut served to attendees.
11.30 am. Ceremony to officially recognise the
businesses collaborating with this edition of the Fiesta de la Matanza.
11.45 am. Live traditional music from the folk
group “Grupo de Coros y Danzas Virgen del
Rosario”.
12.30 pm. Live music from the traditional music
group “Aires de Espuña”.
12.40 pm.- Free samples of various delicatessen
products to try.
12.45 pm.- Delivery of diplomas to the
participating children in the “salchichas making” workshop.
1.15 pm.- Live music from the group “La Colla
del Ramblar”.
2.15 pm.- Free OLLA FRESCA for all to try (a
rich pork stew, cooked over a period of hours with rice, beans and pulses)
2.30 pm.- Free traditional dessert in the form
of paparajotes (a lemon leaf coated
in a batter made of flour, egg and lemon zest and then fried and dusted in
sugar and cinnamon).
