FIESTA DE LA MATANZA 2023

Various activities such as the making and tasting of fresh pot, a sausage-making workshop for children, a performance by the string workshop group from the Senior Citizens' Centre...Free entry

SUNDAY 12th FEBRUARY

8.00 am.- Work begins to prepare a giant “olla fresca” (a pork stew made with rice, beans and pulses)

10.00 am.- Workshop for children to make SALCHICHAS (pork sausages). Two groups starting at 10 am and 11.30 am. Prior registration required until February 8th in the Concejalía de Festejos (Casa de Cultura).

11.00 am. Live music from the traditional music group “Taller de Cuerda del Centro de Mayores”.

11.15 am.- Free SOBRASADA for all to try (a red pork meat paste with sweet paprika and other spices)

11.30 am.- Ceremony to officially recognise  the businesses collaborating with this edition of the Fiesta de la Matanza.

12.00.- Live music from the traditional music groups “Músicos de Sonata y Cuadrilla de La Costera”.

12.40 pm.- Free samples of various delicatessen products to try.

12.45 pm.- Delivery of diplomas to the participating children in the “salchichas making” workshop.

1.00 pm. Breaking of the Association of Neighbours of Gebas piggy bank.

1.15 pm.- Live music from the group “La Colla del Ramblar”.

2.15 pm.- Free OLLA FRESCA for all to try (a rich pork stew, cooked over a period of hours with rice, beans and pulses)

2.30 pm.- Free traditional dessert in the form of PAPARAJOTES (a lemon leaf coated in a batter made of flour, egg and lemon zest and then fried and dusted in sugar and cinnamon)
